Hello! We have just visited the school, Gymnasium Bad Aibling School!

We’ve been preparing for almost a month for this visit.
The teachers are expecting a lot from us…
STRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this is what we did…..
We had to come back to school to prepare the PowerPoint slides….
Raveena was also asked to prepare an Indian dance for the students in Bad Aibling.

We were greeted by the headmaster of the school upon our arrival. He was very friendly and made us feel at home. When we walked into the school, everyone looked at us. It was very intimidating for us. The big news came when we walked into the school cafeteria and found out that we were going to present to a bunch of eighteen year olds and not people of our age!!!!!!
There was this understanding, we were going to present to students of our age but it wasn’t so when we got there…
But still we went on with it….the students took us on a tour around the school. We were brought to places like the library, music room, indoor sports hall, art room and a private room for students to unwind and distress. The students didn’t look stressed compared to our school’s students. They seemed so care-free. The seniors were very friendly while the younger ones were more playful. One example was when we stepped into the art room, and all of them waved and greeted us..

The tour soon ended and we were brought to a classroom. The headmaster had a presentation for us to learn more about the school. We also found out about the German education system. They too had extra-curricular activities to attend. To our surprise, they also had character development lessons.

Soon it was our turn to present. Our hearts were pounding but it turned out that our nervousness did not affect our presentation as we soon got over our nervousness because the students were very supportive.
After the presentation,
We were very relieved as we did not have to think about any work and could enjoy the rest of the trip without any tension. At the same time, we felt happy and stress-free too.

Here are the similarities and differences between our school and theirs………

Similarites and Differences

Similarities: Both Singapore and Germany have co-curricular activities.
Students from both schools have to learn English as their subject.
Both schools have 2 semesters.
Both have PE as their lesson

Differences: Germany has 3 schools in one district whereas Singapore has many schools.
Their school has a shorter period of lesson time than our school.
They did not need to attend assembly.
. Sengkang Secondary is much bigger than the Bad Aibling school.
During PE time, the boys and girls in Bad Aibling are being separated whilst in our school, it’s the opposite.
The class size in Bad Aibling is around 20-30 students whereas in SKSS, it is around 40 students.

With love,
Group 1 (Raveena, Ravetha, Nicholas & Hanboon)

Europhiles :)
