Hello everyone!

We’re group 4, ROJAK! Our group is assigned to share with everyone about our experience at MunIch City centre – the Mareinplatz. Munich city centre is just like our very own Orchard Road. Both places are always bustling with live. The city centre is packed with people from all over the countries and it has also been voted as one of the most livable cities in the world. Wow!

Today our lunch was different as we were not served. Instead we’re given 6 euros each to buy our own food. This was a great opportunity for us to pull our resources and maximize our spending. Munich city is a crowded place so we decided to explore in a group. To be more sensitive towards our friend’s religious taboos, we went to Macdonald for our lunch. Before exploring, our teachers posted 5 questions about Munich City for us to discover the answers ourselves.
Our journey began at a souvenir shop. We found out from a travel guide book about the special places, buildings & structures in Munich. Alright, I know what you’re thinking. We didn’t just buy that book & ended our learning there.

Next, we went to the fountain with a statue of Virgin Mary. It was made of pure gold. As we were strolling along the street, we met our tour guide, Dan. He was kind enough to bring us to the park located somewhere near where we were. However, we were unfortunate! There was construction on the path leading to the park due to the Christmas decorations. Therefore, we had to head back to the fish mountain. On our way there, Dan shared with us many stories & facts about the museum. It’s was eye opener! We even learnt about Munich being famous for its Nutcracker. When we arrived at the fish fountain, we took group photos & headed back into the bus!
We’ve learnt and noticed many interesting things about the Munich city centre. As Germany has sufficient land, they preserved their historical buildings and structures. New buildings were built along the historical ones. As we moved down the street, the atmosphere became more lively due to the modern shops and their displays. There were also small booths along the street selling fruits & nuts. We bought strawberries at euro 1 (S$2) per packet and it was money well spent.

From this exploration, we learnt on our own that most buildings & structures here have their own historical happenings & stories behind it. Most importantly, we’ve learnt to take care of one another, be responsible & be independent. During this trip, the most precious experience is the laughter & joy we shared.

That’s all for now. Until then, goodbye!
With love,
Joey, Yvonne, Cheryl & Natasha.
